December  

  • Moderated side event Toward Transparency in Political Funding during the 11th Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Qatar. The event was organised by IFES together with the Government of Norway, Albania's Ministry for Public Administration and Anticorruption, Armenia's Ministry of Justice, Armenia's Corruption Prevention Commission, and the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation
  • Supported discussions regarding the first ever UNCAC resolution on political finance, which was adopted unanimously on 19 December. 

 

November  

  • Facilitated workshop supporting the engagement between the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and civil society in Montenegro on politcal finance regulations and oversight, including the newly adopted provisions on non-contestant (third party) campaigning.
  • Held discussions with civil society activists in Indonesia about political finance monitoring, reform and advocacy efforts.

 

October  

  • Moderated panel discussion on the impact of illicit political finance on elections in Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans countries during the Open Government Partnership Summit in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
  • Discussed the potential corruption risks of Constituency Development Funds at the Transparency International Movement Summit.

    

September 

  • Presented on the international experience of evaluating the effectiveness of public funding to political parties during Focus Group Discussion organised by the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS).
  • Concluded study of digital disclosure of political finance in Africa, Asia and the Pacific and Latin America for Transparency International.

   

August 

  • Discussed the importance of a resolution on political finance being presented at the next UNCAC COSP during U4 Partner Forum.
  • Supported research by IFES on the use of digital tools in political finance oversight.

  • Presented on the roles of different public institutions in the oversight of money in politics at the Money in Politics conference in Moldova.
  • Co-facilitated workshop for staff of the Moldovan Central Election Commission on Non-Constant (third party) campaigning, led by Sam Power from Bristol University and Pete Mills from the UK Electoral Commission.
